10 years ago toronto’s matt thibideau (aka altitude/coordinates) contributed one of the finest tracks in cynosure history. today matt returns with three brand new cuts and a re-mastered version of the cyn001 classic track entitled “archenar”. asphalt starts things off with a cutting edge syncopated groove that precisely reflects the cynosure sound over the years. a minimal, swingin, synth stab work out giving you the right amount of funk. archenar smooths things out with some lush pads and a dreamy reverb on the drums creating a subtle washed effect, perfect for the early morning blur. but let’s not forget to mention the killer ms-20 sub bass line.. ahhh so deep. icebox comes next with some icy precision fm syncopation in the mix. accompanied by matt’s signature classic synth percussion grooves. full of melody and warmth this track would melt most refrigerators down. last but not least the outside b track entitled 30 story drop. following suite with matt’s previous releases on blue records under the alias altitude 30 story drop dives deep into basic channel influenced dub and drops some serious bass. matt thibideau’s return to the label has been long anticipated and proves that cynosure’s mandate of releasing timeless uncompromising music is still very much alive 10 years on

abusing our soft side for dub edgar 9000 gave us these compelling tracks.>play me minus three (patience vs. epiphany mix)< û what starts like a nicely arranged minimal tune bubbles and billows after a short pause up to a big ride on the acid-dub-ghost-train. at the latest when the decently deployed and gated french horn pad sets in on the second half you are completely lost. not for quick peep û but beware: danger of addiction of endless playing is definitely given.meanwhile the title >hook & bait< of the b-side rather reads like the basic principle of fishing. it really sounds like the classic principle of ambient à well almost, since in this case this ambient track is drifting along itself, underlined with a straight driving and floating rhythm fed by an earthly bassline.petri heil! one of the finest deepest tearjearking jams ever to come from the brains of the legendary american producer stinkworx! coelacanth is a piece-de-resistance of soulfull technoblues where moody synth riffs play over an irresistable funk baseline. on the other side we find the track amira another huge deep detroit techno jam where basic channel-esque chords evaporate over a sauce of delicate electronics. two beautifull tracks with which stinkworx continues the great american techno legacy. to finish everything off there is a syncom data remix of the track coelacanth where the baseline is squeezed out to the max!

after 17 years of working together, tejada & leviste are back in the studio again putting their modular synths to good work. m tracks (m as in modular) features 4 analog workouts in varying styles. m track 1 features a melodic deep, yet driving track reminiscent of the duos best known work. m track 2 and 3 showcase a trackier sound focusing on basic elements while m track 4 turns in a much more experimental direction. the approach to this ep was a very fun, hands on process. analog sequencers are used to drive the various modular synths and their components. this process allowed for a more organic feel as the unstable electronics change over time as well as the manual changing of parameters over time. systems used include doepfer and frostwave sequencers, and modular systems consisting of cwejman, doepfer, harvestman and bananalogue modules. analog drum machines aided in the rhythms, however m track 3 was generated from pure modular hardware including the drums.

ray valioso (aka swiss producer agnès) returns to real soon with the 4-track particles e.p. on the title track particles, ray uses a moog-like synth part and a treated rhodes piano to weave a hypnotic melody that drifts in and out of focus over a clatter of loose, live percussion and distorted voices. on tocar te, basic house maniobras and groove memories, ray is in less experimental territory and turns in three quality pieces of warm, percussive, luxurious deep house. this is ray valiosos second full release, following up on his well-received einladung e.p.
